"Taking on The U.S. Government"

Alexis: Hey, Diane gave me this this morning, and I think we should go over it before the settlement conference.

Jax: Can't we just get past the division of assets and move on?

Alexis: You can, but you know Carly. She's not going to let this go.

Alexis: Hey.

Nikolas: Hi. Well, hello there. Your timing is impeccable.

Alexis: I was interviewing an assault victim.

Nikolas: Really? Did you get what you needed?

Alexis: I did.

Nikolas: Good.

Alexis: What's up?

Nikolas: How would you feel about taking on the U.S. government?

Nadine: My Aunt Raylene designed a plow coupling and had it patented, and then she licensed it to the equinox defense company, and now they're using it as part of a weapons defense system.

Nikolas: Nadine's aunt passed away last month and left the patent to her.

Alexis: I'm sorry. My condolences.

Nadine: Yeah, thanks. I just can't believe that my Aunt Raylene wouldn't know that they're using it as part of a weapon. It's supposed to be farming equipment.

Nikolas: Nadine informed the company rep that she wouldn't be renewing the license, and this was their response.

Alexis: Oh. You know, these kinds of corporations are as powerful as they are corrupt. They're making billions of dollars off the war and defense contracts, and they also have associations with very important people in government. The horrible thing is that there's young men and women being killed and maimed so that these Equinox people can line their pockets.

Nadine: So how do we fight them?

Alexis: It's not going to be easy. I mean, if this is as you believe, if this patent is a key element in the system, this is a matter of national security.

Alexis: Hey, Melissa, it's Alexis Davis.

Nikolas: This is just the kind of fight Alexis can get her teeth into. If anything can be done, she can do it.

Alexis: All right, I just left a message with my friend in Washington. Here's what I think. The best option is to go straight to Equinox's number one customer, which happens to be the United States government.

Nadine: So what do we do?

Alexis: My friend has very good connections with the incoming administration.

Nadine: Aren't they a little busy with the inauguration?

Alexis: I guarantee it, they will jump at the chance to expose Equinox, and now is the time.

Nikolas: You realize this isn't going to be easy, don't you?

Nadine: Yeah. But they have to be stopped. I owe it to Bruce and to everyone else who's fighting over there.

Alexis: There's no guarantee that you're going to win, you know.

Nadine: We won't know unless we try.
