Carly's
house
Carly:
Hello, Alexis. What can I do for you?
Alexis:
I thought maybe we could go over a few details about your divorce.
Carly:
Shouldn't I be discussing that with Diane since she's my attorney?
Alexis:
Okay, so I'm not here on a professional capacity. I'm here because
I care about my friend --
Jax:
Oh, that's very nice. Rest assured, Alexis, the feeling is mutual.
Alexis:
So here's what I'm thinking. I'm thinking that in the harsh light
of the day, this may have been a mistake. Okay, I'm just going to
come out and say that it's highly inappropriate that I should be
seeking her out when you are my client and I'm representing you.
You are my primary concern. So it's really not any of my business
to question whether she's being honest about how much she loves
you -- it really should be a lot -- or whether you believe what
she's saying. It's just none of my business, so I'm just going to
apologize right now for overstepping.
Carly:
Amazing. It's amazing how you can make an apology sound vaguely
insulting.
Jax:
I'm sure Carly understands you're just acting out of concern.
Carly:
Yes, yes. Acknowledged and accepted.
Jax:
You're one of my dearest friends, Alexis. It would worry me if you
weren't concerned about me. No offense, but what goes on between
me and Carly is really, you know, a personal matter.
Alexis:
No offense taken. I got it. So I'm going to leave now.
Jax:
Okay.
Carly:
Okay.
Alexis:
Nice flowers.
Sam's
apartment

at door]
Sam:
Great.
Alexis:
Hi. Well, did I come at a bad time?
Lucky:
No, your timing couldn't be better. I'm sure you and your mom have
lots to talk about.
Sam:
Oh, yeah.
Alexis:
I think he was in a bad mood.
Sam:
Lucky does not want me to be a P.I. I'm sure you want to weigh in,
too.
Sam:
I have always been a disaster when it comes to office work.
Alexis:
I remember.
Sam:
And my very brief brush with fame as Miss Everyday heroine -- you
know what? That convinced me that I never, ever, ever, want to take
the road of show business ever again.
Alexis:
You don't have to justify your choice to me. If you want a P.I.'s
license, then go for it.
Sam:
I am sorry. I still think I'm in my conversation with Lucky. Do
you know what he said to me? He thinks that I get off on putting
myself in dangerous situations. And you know what? He may be right.
But guess what I have learned over the past? That I am not going
to make myself over for anybody else because it never, ever turns
out well in the end.
Alexis:
I agree. In fact, I think you go at something with honesty about
yourself, about other people. It's an honorable way to live. And
to whatever extent that I can help you,
I will.
Sam:
Wow. That was a nice surprise.
Alexis:
What?
Sam:
I don't know. I just, um, I expected you to resist, I guess.
Alexis:
Nope. Nothing.
Sam:
Well, that's good. Thank you. I just, um, you know, I wanted you
to know where I was coming from.
Alexis:
I appreciate that. And in that spirit, I want to tell you that I
know that you're friends with Spinelli, and he is in some big trouble.
And it's out of my jurisdiction, so I can't help him, and I thought
maybe you'd just want to know.
Sam:
Thank you. I do know. I found out last night. But thank you for
caring enough to tell me.
