"You Hit Me"

Download scenes here

Kristina: You ... you hit me.

Kiefer: I'm sorry. I didn't mean it.

Kristina: It sure felt like you meant it.

Kiefer: Yeah, well, you caught me by surprise.

Kristina: I did? What about you?

Kiefer: Okay, look, you know me, K. I don't stalk girls back to their bedroom. I just--I thought you wanted to --

Kristina: What?

Kiefer: I thought you wanted me here. I mean, you acted like you wanted to do more than kiss, so I'm going along with it, then all of a sudden you--you push me back like you smelled something foul. That hurt my feelings. Look, I'm--I'm sorry, okay? Can we just pretend like this never happened?

Kiefer: You've got to believe me, K., I didn't mean to hurt you.

Kristina: What's wrong with you? It still hurts.

Kiefer: Honest to God, I don't remember doing that.

Kristina: Need me to remind you?

Kiefer: I'm sorry. I would never intentionally hurt you.

Kristina: But you did, Kiefer. I just don't understand why.

Kiefer: Maybe I care about you too much. The thing is, sometimes I think this thing we've got going on is one-sided. Like you don't want me around as much as I want to be with you.

Kristina: That is so not true.

Kiefer: Okay. I guess it was just one big misunderstanding. That happens with couples. Look, you're so beautiful. Okay? And you're so different than all those other girls. You got stuff going on up here. And I like that. I like you. I don't want to lose you. Tell me that we're okay and you'll forgive me?

Kristina: I forgive you.

Kristina: Stop it!

Kiefer: Okay, not this again.

Kristina: You think we're going to have sex after you hit me?

Kiefer: What are you trying to say, Kristina? That kiss was another tease right before you shut me off again? This is really starting to piss me off.

Kristina: How did I get to be the wrong one here?

Kiefer: What do you want from me?

Kristina: I want you to be nice.

Kiefer: I am. You know any other seniors hanging out with a junior?

Kiefer: That's not what I meant.

Kiefer: You don't know what you mean or want. Until you figure it out, quit jerking me around and then crying foul when you don't like what comes next.

[Door slams]

[Knock on door]

Molly: Hey. Can I borrow your purple sweater?

Kristina: It's big on me, it'll swallow you whole.

Molly: Mmm. Did you know that in ancient Rome only the most important people wore purple? That's because it took a lot of fish cells to make the col... are you even listening?

Kristina: What? Uh, no, Molly, actually I'm not. I have to--I have to get ready.

Molly: What happened to your face?

Kristina: I walked into a door.

Molly: What a klutz.

Kristina: Don't tell Mom.

Molly: That you walked into a door? Why not?

Kristina: Because I was texting at the time, and you know how she always rides us about not paying attention. I don't need a lecture. Pinky swear?

Molly: Pinky swear.

Kristina: You're going to look ridiculous.

Molly: Where you going?

Kristina: Out.

Molly: With Kiefer?

Kristina: Maybe.

Molly: He's nice.

Kristina: Not always.

Molly: I don't get it. Did you and Kiefer have a fight?

Kristina: It's no big deal. I was acting dumb. But I'm over it. Kiefer's a catch. I'm not about to throw him back.

Molly: You're home.

Alexis: Is that okay?

Molly: Yeah, it's awesome.

Alexis: Aw. I must be very special, you left your book. Give me a hug.

Molly: You are special. You're my mom. You're so important, you should be wearing purple.

Alexis: Yes. Where's your sister?

Molly: She left.

Alexis: With?

Molly: I don't know. Viola's making lemonade.

Alexis: Good. How was science camp?

Molly: Okay.

Alexis: Just okay?

Molly: Well, some of the girls were talking about you--sending emails to the mayor.

Alexis: I'm sorry, honey. Oh. The last thing I want is to be an embarrassment to you and Kristina.

Molly: I'm not embarrassed by you.

Alexis: You know, the only thing that--that you can do is just know that what people are saying about me isn't true. And you just have to stay strong and focus on--on the task at hand. I think that's all we can do right now.

Molly: Okay. But what about you, Mom? What are you gonna do?

Alexis: What do you mean?

Molly: People are lying about you, and you're just gonna let them?

Alexis: No. You just gave me an idea. Would you mind if I just go out for a little bit, and I'll be right back? Okay. Good idea.

Tara: So, that was it, yeah.

[Giggles]

Kiefer: That's his laugh.

[Laughter]

Kristina: Hey.

Kiefer: Hey. I didn't think you'd be back.

Kristina: I didn't like the way we left things.

Kiefer: Uh, yeah, neither did I. But that was on you. You got upset over nothing.

Kristina: Well, I'm not upset now. Can we go someplace and talk?

Tara: Like he first said, you weren't expected. We made plans to go to a party.

Kiefer: Yes, we did.

Tara: Seniors only. Sorry.

Kristina: So that's it? You're just gonna take off with her?

Kiefer: Look, I told you, I didn't think you'd be here. I made plans.

Kristina: But I am here. I guess I don't mean as much to you as you said.

Kiefer: Look, you know what, don't give me the drama, all right? You're the one that didn't want me around, remember?

Kristina: You're being unfair.

Kiefer: Do you think I'm unfair?

Tara: I, uh, haven't decided yet.

Kiefer: Hmm.

Tara: We'll be sure to let you know. Come now or I'm leaving without you.

Kiefer: First come, first serve.

[Hey now by Augustana playing]

Augustana: Sky black and blue blue turn to red

[Engine starts]

Augustana: It's quiet in the streets now, but it's

Michael: Get off my ass, buddy.

Augustana: I ain't a fool

[Tires squeal]

Michael: What the hell is wrong with you?

Augustana: I've got my doubts say it doesn't hurt it doesn't matter anyhow

[Kristina sobbing]

Claudia: So that's pretty much it, Ric. I'm having Sonny's baby, which makes you irrelevant. There's no reason for you to ever darken the town with your presence again. Good riddance, you freak.

Augustana: There's fire in the streets now it's quiet in your head we're passing the time by breaking apart we're damned at the end and we're damned at the start blame it on the roses blame it on the red running out of time.

Augustana: You'll kill yourself to find anything at all hey, now we're bleeding for nothing it's hard to breathe when you're standing on your own we'll kill ourselves to find freedom you'll kill yourself to find anything at all hey now, hey now, hey now right now hey now, hey now, hey now right now

[Tires squealing]

[Crash]
