"I Did Something--I Did Another Stupid Thing"

Alexis: Why are you so sure there was another vehicle involved in Claudia's accident?

Kristina: It's common sense, right? I mean, Claudia rolled her car. I just assumed it was because of another driver.

Alexis: Well, could be an animal or maybe she was going so fast that her car lost control. So, I mean, at this point, there's no indication that there was another vehicle involved.

Kristina: Really?

Alexis: Mm-hmm. Honey, some things just happen randomly. As far as we know, there was no one at fault here. That's why it's called an accident.

Mac: Can you estimate the speed Claudia was traveling at the time of impact?

Man: Not yet, but look at the distance her car rolled.

Mac: So we're just looking at a single car incident? I mean, she spun out, rolled, and crashed.

Lucky: Mac. We got a second set of skid marks.

Mac: Which direction?

Lucky: Opposite. Headed straight for Claudia.

Mac: Well, that's it, then. A car appeared in Claudia's lane, approaching fast. She swerved to avoid it and bam. I guess we're looking for the driver of the other car, Lucky.

Alexis: Honey, will you sit down? You're wearing out a path in the carpet.

Kristina: Can you throw the D.A. card?

Alexis: Well--

Kristina: Get the hospital to tell you if Claudia and the baby are okay?

Alexis: Why are you so concerned?

Kristina: What kind of question is that? Claudia is Dad's wife. She's having his baby, my little brother or sister. It's scary to think something terrible might happen to them.

Alexis: Okay. Calm down. All right. I promise if I hear anything, I will let you know, okay? In the meantime, change of subject. All right, tell me, what did you do with Ashley today?

Kristina: I have to make a confession.

Alexis: I'm waiting. You have a confession?

Kristina: I haven't been completely honest with you.

Alexis: You mean you lied?

Kristina: I gave you misdirection. Okay, I lied.

Alexis: From the top.

Kristina: Remember when I told you I was at the coffee house with Ashley tonight?

Alexis: Mm-hmm.

Kristina: I was really out with Kiefer. We went to the country club, then we were going to go to a party. But then you called and I felt guilty, so I told him to bring me back here. I know it was wrong of me to lie. I'm sorry. Are you gonna ground me?

Alexis: If I had found this out from somebody else, yes, you would be very grounded. But because you were honest and you didn't make the situation any worse--

[Telephone rings]

Alexis: You have a reprieve. [Ring] [Ring] It's Mac. I have to take it. [Ring] What's happening?

Mac: We may be looking at a criminal investigation of reckless driving. Evidence at the scene indicates another car forced Claudia off the road.

[Cell phone rings]

Michael: Hey.

Kristina: Did you hear?

Michael: What?

Kristina: Claudia got into a terrible accident tonight. She swerved to avoid an oncoming car and wiped out.

Michael: Is Alexis here?

Kristina: At her office dealing with Claudia's accident.

Michael: I need you to tell me everything you know about it.

Kristina: Why are you so freaked out?

Michael: Just tell me.

Kristina: Mom said the police think a driver coming from the opposite direction swerved into Claudia's lane, and she tried to avoid the car and rolled.

Michael: Where was the crash?

Kristina: Harbor View Road.

[Knock on door]

Alexis: Oh, good.

Sam: Uh, a little late to be at the office, don't you think?

Alexis: All right, I want to talk to you about something, and I really don't want Kristina and Molly to know about this if at all possible.

Sam: Okay.

Alexis: I did something--I did another stupid thing.

Sam: Oh, no.

Alexis: All right, wait. Let me back up. I was having a conversation with Molly about this Mayor Floyd thing. And she said to me, "Mommy, all these people are lying about you. Why aren't you doing anything?" And I thought, well, she's right. Why am I being so passive?

Sam: Oh, no.

Alexis: So I came up with the brilliant idea to go over to Mayor Floyd’s house.

Sam: Yeah, you did something stupid.

Alexis: I tol--I already admitted that it was stupid. So I thought I could appeal to his better nature. Apparently he doesn't have one. But what he does have is a wife who is crazy like a bat. So I get into an argument with her, and that's when I realize that Mayor Floyd has security cameras. So now there's footage of me stomping up to the door and--if anyone gets a hold of that footage, I might as well just pack up and move.

Sam: Wait a minute. Mayor Floyd lives on Harbor View Road, doesn't he?

Alexis: Yeah.

Alexis: So it's widely suspected by law enforcement that Damian Spinelli has perfected the art of breeching security camera codes and making the footage just disappear.

Sam: Okay, all right. I get it. So you want me to ask Spinelli if he can eliminate any visual evidence of you being at Mayor Floyd’s house.

Alexis: Yes, please.

Sam: All right, yeah.

Alexis: Will you?

Sam: I will definitely see what I can do. What time were you there around?

Alexis: A little before 9:00.

Sam: Okay. All right. And you said that you got into a little bit of an argument with his wife.

Alexis: She's a very unpleasant Woman.

Sam: Which means that you were probably a little bit upset, right?

Alexis: Well, yeah.

Sam: Okay. Um, how did you get back?

Alexis: In my car.

Sam: What direction?

Alexis: Harbor View Road and Adams Lane. Why does that matter?

Sam: It doesn’t. [Scoffs] I'm just putting together all the pieces, that's all. I'll get back to you.

[Door closes]

Kristina: Are you okay? You just, like, turned green.

Michael: I did something that proves I'm damaged and dangerous.

Kristina: What are you talking about? That stupid fight with Kiefer?

Michael: No, something much worse. I was driving my car to Jake’s, and some ass cut me off, so I went nuts. I went speeding after him, yelling my head off, totally not paying attention to the road. And I took a turn too wide. And there was this car I almost hit head-on. It had to be Claudia. I think I caused her accident.

[Knock on door]

Diane: First off, I need you to assure me that you have admitted nothing.

Alexis: To whom?

Diane: To anyone.

Alexis: I have no idea what you're talking about.

Diane: Really? Because I'm under the impression that you're facing criminal charges.

Alexis: Criminal charges? Whatever gave you that idea?

Diane: Well, it's just what I inferred when I get a call from Commissioner Scorpio saying to race down here because you're going to need a good lawyer.
