"I Did Not Cause Claudia's Accident"

Diane: I need you to tell me everything, because surprises aren't going to help either of us in the courtroom.

Alexis: How many times do you want me to tell you the same thing? Yes, I was on Harbor View Road. Yes, it was at the time of Claudia's accident, around the time of the accident, it was a complete coincidence, I was calm, I was sober, I was in control of my car, and I did not cause her accident.

Alexis: Is it wrong of me to assume that my friend should believe me when I proclaim my innocence?

Diane: Of course I believe you. That is not the issue, Alexis. I am looking at this as your attorney, and I strongly doubt that the police or a jury of your peers, for that matter, is not going to see it the same way. Especially since the very public airing of your irrational emails to the mayor!

Alexis: They were forged.

Diane: Once again, we only have the defendant's word on that. Alexis, start thinking like the brilliant attorney that you are.

[Cell phone rings]

Diane: Unless there's some very solid forensic evidence connecting somebody else to the car crash, you are in very serious trouble. Hello, Mr. Morgan.

Jason: I need you at the police station right now.

Diane: And what, pray tell, are they holding you for now?

Jason: It's not me, it's Michael. He's in some serious trouble. Now, get him out of here, whatever it takes.

Diane: I'm on my way. All right. I need to go to the PCPD. Stay here. Wait for my phone call. And above all else, don't talk to anybody. This whole thing needs to be handled with the utmost delicacy.

[Door closes]

Alexis: Yes, hi. This is District Attorney Davis. I'm calling about Claudia Corinthos. Yes, you can consider this an official inquiry. I'd like to know about her condition. Yes. Do you have any information about the extent of her injuries? How about an estimate of when she'll be out of surgery? Good. Thank you. I appreciate it.

[Knock on door]

Sam: Hi. Everything okay?

Alexis: Not really.

Sam: Oh. Well, I've actually got some good news. I was able to use Spinelli's computer to hack into the security system at the mayor's house, just like you asked, and I did come across the footage of you coming and going, and you did seem pretty upset. So, I deleted it.

Alexis: Oh...God.

[Alexis sighs]

Alexis: Are you sure that the footage was completely deleted?

Sam: Yeah. Why?

Alexis: Because the situation has changed. Thanks to Floyd’s lunatic wife, I am now a suspect in Claudia's car accident.

Sam: What?!

Alexis: [Sighs] Floyd's wife went to the police station and told them that I was at her house and that I left around the time of Claudia's car accident and I was hysterical and that I was driving erratically.

Sam: Oh, great. And the footage I deleted could have proved--

Alexis: Never mind. It's not your fault. I should never have asked you to do that in the first place. It's my karma for skirting the law.

[Cell phone rings]

Sam: Wait a minute. Are you absolutely 100% sure that you couldn't have had anything to do with it?

Alexis: Yes, of course I am. Hey, Mac, what's up?

Mac: Listen, I have some good news. You're no longer a suspect in Claudia's accident.

Alexis: Well, what happened?

Mac: Well, we just Mirandized Michael Corinthos. He confessed to causing the accident.

Alexis: Wow. Thanks. Michael Corinthos just confessed to causing Claudia's accident.

Kristina: Are you gonna let Michael take the blame for something you might have done?

Kristina: How can you be such a hypocrite? You don't even know if Michael's guilty.

Alexis: Were you listening?

Kristina: And you were driving on Harbor View Road. You were probably driving crazy because you made a fool of yourself at the mayor's house.

Alexis: All right, all right. The mayor's wife is lying, and I was not hysterical when I left.

Kristina: Oh, am I supposed to believe you because you've been so honest about everything else? I've read your emails, Mom. They're pathetic.

Alexis: Those were forged, and you should believe that by now. What on earth is going on with you?

Kristina: Right. You didn't write the emails, you didn't sleep with a married man, and you didn't ask Sam to destroy the surveillance video. I'm not gonna let you blame Michael for the accident you could have caused.

Alexis: I am very upset that Michael confessed to this accident. I feel terrible for what he's going through right now or what he may have to go through in the future--

Kristina: Yeah, it didn't sound like that.

Alexis: And I will do everything in my power to help him. More importantly, I did not cause Claudia's accident. Yes, the tape that I asked her to destroy was a mistake. It hurt me anyway, so I got what I deserved.

Sam: All right, listen. Can we just--can we calm down? I'm sure we can sort this out.

Alexis: Fine. I'm gonna go downtown and I'm gonna try to help Michael. We'll talk about this when everyone's cooled down.

[Door closes]

Kristina: She's lying.

Sam: I think you're pretty upset. And I don't think it has anything to do with you thinking Mom caused Claudia's accident. Right?

Sam: Why are you so convinced that Michael didn't cause that accident?

Kristina: Nobody knows who caused the accident. It could have been Michael, but it could have been Mom, too. I mean, she's been lying about everything else.

Sam: [Sighs] Really? I mean, but could have been someone else driving the car, too. Come on, Kristina, I saw you come in here with Kiefer tonight. You were all stressed out. As soon as Mom mentioned the accident, you dropped your glass.

Kristina: What, so you're investigating me now?

Sam: No, I am not, no. By all means, no, I am not investigating you. I just know you well enough to know when you're trying to cover something up. Why don't you tell me what's really going on, please.

Kristina: There's nothing going on.

Sam: Okay. Fine. You want to--you want to play that game. So I had a feeling you weren't being honest, and I went out there and I checked Viola's car, and the engine was warm. Viola's been in here all night with Molly. The country club is on Harbor View Road.

Kristina: That doesn't mean anything.

Sam: Come on, Krissy! Really, I have never seen you be so harsh with Mom in our entire life. You've gotta be kidding me right now. I want to help you. Normally, when you do stuff like that, it means you're feeling guilty about something. Please tell me the truth. Krissy, did you cause ... that accident with Claudia?
