Afraid Alexis Could be Charged With Murder"

Robin:
Can you get these to records?
Epiphany:
Sure. Oh, and I've got those blood samples you asked for.
Robin:
Way too much going on.
Epiphany:
Mmm, tell me about it.
Patrick:
Hey.
Robin:
Hi. I know, I'm sorry, you're still waiting on--
Patrick:
I assume you're too busy to hear the latest.
Robin:
What, they found Michael?
Patrick:
Same case, different suspect. Michael probably doesn't know this
yet, but somebody else confessed to running Claudia off the road.
Diane:
I don't think you have fully evaluated the potential consequences
of your confession.
Alexis:
I'm much more concerned about what will happen to my daughter if
they find out that she was the one that was driving the car, because
she's a teenager without a license, and she left the scene of an
accident where a pregnant Woman lost her baby. No wonder she ran
off with Michael.
Diane:
I assume you're here to release my client.
Mac:
Not just yet.
Diane:
Oh, come on, Mac. It's absurd to continue to hold Alexis on what
amounts to a traffic accident.
Mac:
It's more than that now. I'm afraid Alexis
could be charged with murder.
Robin:
These are a rush. Okay, that doesn't make any sense. Why would Alexis
let Michael take the fall for so long?
Patrick:
I don't know. Maybe she panicked. I mean, if she was driving so
recklessly to run Claudia off the road and not stop, then she must
have been pretty upset about something. Which would validate Andrea
Floyd's story that she showed up at their house in hysterics that
night looking for the mayor.
Robin:
Which, in turn, would also make it seem like she did send those
emails, and she is obsessed with the mayor.
Patrick:
Heh. Robin, if Alexis is obsessed with the mayor, that gives her
motive to kill Brianna Hughes, which makes her a prime suspect.
Robin:
I get your line of thinking, but I don't believe it.
Diane:
This is preposterous.
Mac:
Not if you look at the circumstantial evidence against Alexis in
Brianna's murder.
Diane:
The obvious word being "circumstantial."
Alexis:
I slept with him once. I did not send those emails. They were forged,
and you know that, Mac.
Mac:
Can you prove it?
Alexis:
No.
Mac:
Then, Alexis, I have to go where the evidence takes me, whether
I like it or not. Look, the fact that you caused Claudia's accident
and allowed someone else to take the blame casts serious doubt on
your credibility. You knew Michael's confession was a mistake, and
you were ready to run with it.
Diane:
There are mitigating factors that have not yet come to light.
Mac:
Either Alexis caused the accident or she didnt.
Diane:
What are Mr. and Mrs. Mayor doing here?
Lucky:
We brought them in for questioning regarding Alexis' behavior the
night of Claudia's accident.
Andrea:
Ms. Davis' behavior can be summed up in one word -- deranged.
Elizabeth:
You know, Patrick has a point. If Alexis was willing to let Michael
pay for something she did, then yes, her own emotional state is
in question.
Robin:
We all have our bad days.
Elizabeth:
But you don't frame a kid that's recovering from brain surgery.
Robin:
Look, I don't know what happened on Harbor View Road that night.
She may have been driving recklessly, but to kill the mayor's mistress?
Elizabeth:
I'm not saying she's guilty. However, she did kill Luis Alcazar.
Robin:
People will do almost anything to protect their family. But to get
so crazed over a one-night stand with Mayor Floyd?
Elizabeth:
But don't people usually end up snapping over the unlikeliest things?
I mean, we all forget how much stress we're under, and it just builds
and builds and builds.
Robin:
When's your shift up?
Elizabeth:
4 minutes, 37 seconds. Why?
Robin:
What do you say to a girls' night out?
Elizabeth:
At Jakes?
Robin:
Where else?
Elizabeth:
My grandmother already has my boys. I can call Kelly and Lainey.
But you--
Robin:
Yes, I know. I'm on antidepressants, I can't drink.
Elizabeth:
Right.
Robin:
But, uh, you know, I have to admit, a few rounds of lick it, slam
it, suck it sound a lot more fun than club soda, but it'll be fun
to just hang out with the girls.
Elizabeth:
I just finished 2 double shifts, my dishwasher leaked water all
over my floor, my cable is out. I so need this. I'll even buy the
first bottle of tequila.
Robin:
All right. Well, it sounds like a good thing that I'm not drinking.
You're the one that needs a chaperone tonight.
Patrick:
I'm glad you're going to Jakes with the girls. It'll be fun
for you. I'll go home, relieve Judy, and get some dad time with
Emma.
Robin:
You're sure you don't mind?
Patrick:
Absolutely. Go. It'll be good.
Robin:
Okay. I just think I need to, you know, connect with who I am and
what I love outside of family time.
Patrick:
Okay. Good.
Robin:
And to be honest, this whole Alexis thing is really throwing me.
All these weird decisions she's making. Things that are not like
her. Kind of like what I did a few months ago.
Patrick:
No, no, no, no. Those are two separate situations. You were suffering
from postpartum depression. And I love your compassion for Alexis,
but if these allegations are true, then she's in some real trouble.
Robin:
If the allegations are true.
Patrick:
Okay, that's enough. You're going to Jakes. Have fun. I'll
see you at home, okay?
Robin:
Bye.
Patrick:
Bye.
Robin:
Thank you.
Patrick:
Bye.
Robin:
Uh, where are you taking those?
Orderly:
To the PCPD as evidence in a murder case.
Robin:
Not yet.
Diane:
Alexis' traffic accident, if she was even involved, has nothing
to do with Brianna Hughes' murder.
Andrea:
It proves how out of control Ms. Davis was that night. The Woman
is unbalanced. She's so obsessed with my husband she'll do anything
to get rid of the competition. I guess I should be thankful she
hasn't come after me.
Alexis:
Garrett, we need to talk.
Mayor Floyd: We have nothing to say to each other.
Alexis:
Garrett, you and I have had our disagreements, and I know the hard
line you can draw, but I also know that you're capable of decency,
even kindness. You know that I didn't send those emails. You know
that I haven't pursued a relationship with you. And if you just
tell the truth, they do not have the basis for a case against me.
You can end this for me right now. Garrett, please. Help me.
Alexis:
I am responsible for Claudia's accident, and I will accept whatever
punishment they deem appropriate, but I did not kill Brianna, and
you know it.
Mayor Floyd: Where was your trust in my decency when you had me arrested
for Brianna's murder?
Alexis:
Garrett, there was all kinds of evidence against you. There is no
evidence again-- those emails were a lie.
Mayor Floyd: I'm sure you're going to get a chance to prove that.
Alexis:
I'm sorry Brianna is dead, and whoever did that to her should pay,
but it wasn't me.
Andrea:
What is going on here? Is this how you run your department, allowing
a suspect to accost a potential witness? Stay away from my husband,
please.
Alexis:
I remember a time when your husband used to speak for himself.
Mac:
I'd advise your client she's not doing herself any favors.
[Diane
clears throat]
Mac:
Mayor, we have your wife's statement. Do you have anything to add
or contradict?
Mayor Floyd: Alexis came to our home and made a scene, just like Andrea
said. I have done everything in my power to be as diplomatic as
possible for everyone concerned. This is now out of my hands.
Alexis:
I'd almost feel sorry for him if he weren't destroying my life.
Diane:
It was a mistake to approach him.
Alexis:
Obviously. But really, does it matter at this point?
Patrick:
Mmm. So this is where you drink tequila with the girls, huh?
Robin:
How'd you know I was here?
Patrick:
I went to sign out and you hadnt. Brianna Hughes. I thought
these files were going down to the PCPD.
Robin:
Yeah, well, they made a detour.
Patrick:
Robin, is this becoming an obsession?
Robin:
I have to make sure that I haven't missed anything. When I falsely
accused the mayor, it put Alexis under suspicion.
Patrick:
Now you're hell-bent on finding somebody else to blame.
Robin:
I have to trust my instincts, and my instincts tell me that Alexis
didn't do it. If you want to go home and be with Emma, that's fine.
I was going to be out late anyway.
Patrick:
No, I think I'll stay here with you.
Robin:
You believe me?
Patrick:
I trust your instincts, too.
Robin:
Good. You can read me the results on page 5.
Patrick:
Hmm.
Patrick:
Now, I know it's not tequila and karaoke, but I have the cafeteria's
world famous tapioca pudding. Come on, Sherlock, eat something.
Robin:
Thank you.
Patrick:
Here you go.
Robin:
Wait a second.
Patrick:
What? What are you doing?
Robin:
I'm looking for the pictures from Brianna Hughes' autopsy report.
Oh. Okay, here they are. I knew something didn't fit. Okay, what
do you see?
Patrick:
Pictures of Brianna's head injury.
Robin:
Right, but where is it?
Patrick:
The back of the skull.
Robin:
We don't know yet what the murder weapon was, but we do know where
she was hit. Okay, so pretend you're the mayor, I'm Brianna. Hit
me on the head. See?
Patrick:
No, I dont.
Robin:
Okay, you are about Mayor Floyd's height. I'm about Briannas.
If he was the one that hit her, that's where it would have landed--on
the top of her head. And that's not what the pictures show. So whoever
hit Brianna had to have been shorter than the mayor.
Patrick:
And Alexis fits that description.
Robin:
So does the mayor's wife.
